First Sleepover
It's New Year's Eve, and Grace and Sarah are having their first sleepover. Their best friend, Kylee, is spending the night tonight for the first time! Grace and Sarah are so super duper excited to have their friend over. They are all sleeping together on the carpet in their bedroom on sleeping bags. They look so cute! I remember having sleepovers when I was younger, but not as young as they are. I remember one in particular where I got really homesick and had my mom come and pick me up in the middle of the night. I hope Kylee doesn't have any problems tonight, this being her first time sleeping here. We shall see!

It's been a while
Okay, so I need to be more consistent about writing in this blog. It's been five months since I last posted. Too long. So much has happened and time has flown by. Mia started walking at 10 1/2 months old, at the beginning of September 2006. She hasn't stopped since. She now climbs on everything, including the coffee table. She loves to dance, and is blabbing a lot. She just recently started giving kisses. It's so darn cute. She absolutely adores her sisters, and loves to follow them around. She especially loves going in their room...they have so much "stuff" she can get into. Her favorite things to get out of their room are their chapsticks. She likes to take one in each hand, pop off the cap with her teeth, and dig out the chapstick. If you take it away from her, boy does she get mad. She screams so loudly, and sometimes falls to the floor and flings her head back. It's quite the tantrum. I wonder what'll happen when she's in the "terrible twos." We shall see. One thing is certain...she wants what she wants, and if she doesn't get it, watch out! Right now, Mia is sick with some type of intestinal flu. She's been having diarrhea for four days, and has been throwing up for two. It's so sad! I hope she feels better soon.
Mia's big sisters, Grace and Sarah, are doing so well, and are getting so big. I can't believe they will be five in merely three months. At that time, I will also be registering them for kindergarten. Wow. Time surely flies. My twin babies aren't babies anymore. They're the cutest little girls! They got so much stuff for Christmas. Right now, Sarah is totally into Tinkerbell, so she was inundated with Tinkerbell stuff. Grace is obsessed with Ariel and all things mermaid, so she was showered with all kinds of Ariel things. They also got a Leap Frog Leapster, which they love to play with. There are some pretty cool educational games that are available for the Leapster, too. On Christmas Eve, just before bedtime, the girls put on their Christmas jammies and set out the sugar cookies they baked for Santa along with a glass of milk. We made sure to open the fireplace, so Santa wouldn't have any trouble getting into our house. We then went outside, and threw baby carrots on the roof for the reindeer. In the morning, the girls woke up to brand new bicycles that they got from Santa. They were very excited, and the unwrapping of all their gifts was a whirlwind. We tried to slow them down as best we could. It was so fun to experience Christmas this year with Grace and Sarah, as they were totally into it and completely excited about Santa. They are really buying into it, and it sure does make it fun for us.

9 Months

Mia is nine months old today! She had her nine-month checkup today, and weighed in at 20 pounds, 4 ounces, which puts her in the 75th percentile for weight. Her length is 29 inches, which places her in the 90th percentile for height. Yup, she's a tall one! She has always been in the 90th percentile for height; it will be interesting to see if she stays tall. Mia is standing up and cruising along everything she can, all the while talking up a storm. She is such a babbler, it's so darn cute! We are really enjoying "just one" this time around.

Sisterly love

Grace and Sarah love Mia so much, and Mia worships them back. I love to watch the interactions between the girls. Wherever the twins are, Mia wants to be. She follows them all over the house, and is so happy just being around them. Sometimes, if the twins go in their rooms and close the door, Mia sits outside of their room just crying. She wants to be with them so badly. Grace and Sarah are so sweet to her. They give her so much love and lots of hugs and kisses all the time. They carefully watch her when she is putting things in her mouth, so as not to choke on something. When they are away from her, as they were last night spending the night at GJ's house, they miss her so much and get so excited when they see her again.
I just love this sisterly love. I am so happy they each have two sisters to grow up with. I wanted to have a sister so badly growing up, and I couldn't be happier that my girls will always have each other.
If you told me

If you told me seven years ago when Carey and I got married that we'd have three children, all of them girls, and the first two twins, I think I would have laughed. I don't think I would have believed that out of three kids, none would be boys, and I surely would not have believed that we'd be so lucky to have twins. Well, here we are today, with three of the most amazing, healthy girls. We are truly enjoying every day with them, and since we are both home on summer vacation, we all get to be together as a family every day. Grace and Sarah are growing up so fast. We can't believe they are four already! In one year, they'll be entering Kindergarten. They both love to color, paint, and draw pictures these days. "I made a picture for you, Mom," they say, as they proudly hand over their current works of art.

Higglytown Hero
Today, while driving home from a visit to Diamond Ranch High School (Dad's work), Carey and the twins suffered a flat tire on the freeway. I rushed up there to pick up the girls while Carey waited for AAA to come and change the tire, and on the way back I was talking to the girls about how someone is going to be helping Daddy change the tire. "Like a Higglytown Hero?" Sarah asked. I thought that was so cute. Grace and Sarah watch a TV show on the Disney channel called "Higglytown Heroes," a show about community helpers and how they help people out in need.

Standing & Cruising

Holy cow! Mia just turned eight months old, and she's already pulling up to a standing position. She's been doing this for just a few days. She has been army crawling for about a month now, and is just starting to crawl the regular way. Just today, Mia started cruising along the side of the coffee table. She's very unstable, but she made it all the way down the side of the table. She'll be walking in no time! It seems that everything is happening so fast with Mia. With the twins, we waited so long for them to meet their milestones, being born at 29 weeks. I guess this is normal for a full-term baby, but it's incredibly fast for us. We are enjoying every moment of her babyhood!
